The quality of Belgian innovation is recognised worldwide, thanks in particular to the establishment of an ecosystem conducive to the emergence of new start-ups. This field of activity has more than 250 companies, 95% of which are SMEs and start-ups, and generates 18,000 direct jobs. The sector is not yet mature, but nevertheless ranks in the top 10 European countries offering most of the jobs in this field.
