Medical device
The Medical Device (Medtech) sector is booming in Belgium! The quality of Belgian innovation is recognised worldwide, thanks in particular to the establishment of an ecosystem conducive to the emergence of new start-ups. This field of activity has more than 250 companies, 95% of which are SMEs and start-ups, and generates 18,000 direct jobs. The sector is not yet mature, but nevertheless ranks in the top 10 European countries offering most of the jobs in this field.
The success of this sector is based on a skilful blend of the industrial fabric, internationally recognised research centres (such as IMEC) and the quality of the talent. This innovative sector provides concrete answers to the ageing of the population, cancers, neurodegenerative diseases, chronic diseases, the shortage of health professionals, etc.
Medtechs encompass a multitude of products that fall into 3 main categories:
- non-implantable and implantable medical devices
- digital health, which includes connected objects, medical imaging and projects using artificial intelligence
- in vitro diagnostics
Given the speed at which this sector is growing, Belgium faces a major challenge: finding talent to fill the many positions offered by start-ups active in this field: R&D and design, validation, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, manufacturing, product launch and sales, etc.
At PlusOne we have built up a solid network of experts and competent candidates year after year, who we can call upon quickly and confidently.
